Clean Break Theatre Company
I worked with Clean Break — an award-winning theatre company and charity supporting women affected by the criminal justice system — across two separate projects. The work ranged from a theatre poster and social media assets to a hand-painted stage set and a full set of educational materials for a short film.
Project details
For A Proposal for Resisting Darkness - a new play by Yasmin Joseph performed at HMP Downview - I was briefed to create a theatre poster featuring the lead characters and conveying the atmosphere of the piece, delivered in multiple sizes and formats for print, social media and websites. I also designed and built a backdrop as part of the stage set: a 3×2 metre piece of paper, hand-drawn and painted on site.
For A Blueprint for Hope, I designed a suite of digital educational materials to accompany a short film - including education packs, resources, posters and social media templates for use by community groups.
Project outcomes
The illustrations and poster supported a successful run of A Proposal for Resisting Darkness at HMP Downview, and were well received by the women in the audience. The original painted set piece was central to the performance, transforming the space.
The Blueprint for Hope educational materials were used by community groups across the country alongside the film.
