Carys makes theatre when she's not drawing or juggling all sorts of things to pay her rent. This year, she is part of Clean Break's Young Artist Development Programme as a writer. She has previously been part of Soho Writer's Lab and is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin. She co-founded double award-winning Pennyworth Productions in 2016.
'Belong', which Carys has co-written with another young artist, River, was performed at the Arcola and Lyric Hammersmith theatres in Spring 2019. Carys also performed in the piece. Her work has been shown at the Arcola Theatre and Samuel Beckett Theatre, Dublin. Carys' next play, 'How to Catch a Bear' is currently in development with the support of Clean Break.
As an actor, Carys trained at Trinity College Dublin and Drama Studio London. Credits include Belong (Lyric Hammersmith, Arcola Theatre), One Hundred Trillion (Southwark Playhouse, Old Vic Workroms), Empty Beds (The Hope Theatre, Arcola Theatre, Underbelly), Ode to Ego (North Wall), Mogg's War (Old Red Lion) and Brainville at Night (Touring). She also appears in Black Narcissus (BBC).
